Thanks Godfrey, you are a star, that worked! No more using my PlayStation for YouTube and Prime 😊

I was close to getting my management company to send someone out and they would have charged me if it was ended up being an internal issue.

I will see if my soundbar is back working after work.

Thanks again! never seen that before, even with new boxes.

Faulty router or other influence?

I've just had a new Sky Q box delivered today as it suddenly failed on Sunday, but I am still unable to use Sky.

I had to unattach my soundbar to get it to past the initial failure, but now it is saying No Satellite Signal.

I've just checked the back of my router, I have two lights, the one on the left is amber, the other one is green. I've tried giving it a reboot but it is still the same. I'm now wondering if this was my problem all along.

I live in a flat, so hoping another resident hasn't removed my cable.

It's weird cause when I do a check, my broadband comes back as all working on the service checker. It is showing my minibox has an issue, but that is probably due to the main issue I'm having.

Can anyone help with this?

@Debbee08
If you are seeing a “no satellite signal” message check that the connections from the Sky dish going into the back of your Sky Q box are still finger tight.

As you're connected to a communal dish you need to liaise directly with your building management company / landlord who will have their approved engineers to contact.

It’s worth mentioning that:

🔹 a misalignment is not necessarily something that will be visible to the naked eye and could only affect one or two channels (amongst the first to be affected may be TNT or GB News),

🔹 wind and rain can affect the satellite signal and following adverse weather wait times for an engineer will probably be significantly longer.

🔹a Sky Q box requires a periodic 'Keep alive' signal that is delivered via the satellite so if that isn’t received the box will close down until the satellite signal is restored.

@Debbee08 Unless you have your own Sky MiniDish installed, you will receive your satellite transponder signals from a communal dish, which means that the chances are that the replacement Sky Q receiver LNB type is initially set incorrectly

By default any Sky Q receiver is configured to use a WIDEBAND LNB.

So, if you you are fed from a communal dish distribution system and have not reconfigured your new Sky Q receiver to use SCR LNB mode then you will need to change the LNB type to SCR - this is in the 'engineer's' menu

To access it :

press Home
Scroll to Settings - but do not press enter/select at this point
Press 0 0 1 in sequence followed by the Enter/ select button
you should now get the engineer's menu

Select the LNB Type & set to SCR if necessary

After changing the LNB type power down your SKY Q box to standby and remove the mains lead, then reconnect the mains lead and restart it for the new configuration to come into effect

Godfrey.
