Multiroom mini box

Hi, I currently have Sky Q, but no multiroom. I'd like to add a mini box, but need to find out if it's possible. I have BT broadband and th room I'd like to put the mini box in is very far from the Sky Q box. I have a BT disc to boost the WiFi. When I'm near the Sky Q box, I can see on my phones WiFi list, SKYBED03, I'm assuming this is being braodcast from the Sky box, I cannot see this connection in the room I'd like the mini box.

So my question is, will a mini box work in this situation?

Hi @Paul-Round The best solution is to run an Ethernet cable from the Main Sky Q box and the New Mini. A Sky Q booster (mid way between the Main and Mini) may work but is a gamble.

Afraid a mini will not connect to 3rd party WiFi so you could not use the BT disc.

One option which should be viable is to to use Powerline units to connect all boxes by Ethernet.

Powerline is always an option, but I was on BT Broadband for a few years and you can connect the Sky Q Mini via Ethernet to the BT WiFi disc, although you need to make sure you turn off WiFi in the Q mini box settings.

You will find a few posts on this type of set up here or on the BT community if you use search.

Always good to remember that, the only thing the Q mini box is interested in connecting to is the main Q box, so you have to turn the WiFi off on the Q mini box and, if using Ethernet on the main Q box, you can turn it off there as well.

You are essentially forcing the mini box to find the main Q box over the BT wireless backhaul.
