For about s month or even more, I am unable to watch SKY as my satelite signal is not working. I changed Sky box, also remote. But still nothing. I contacted my comunal services and they told me everything is fine, yet still no service. Honestly, Im paying money and no tv. I have no idea what to do.

Check with neighbours to see if anyone else is experiencing this, then check that the connections from the Sky dish going into the back of your Sky Q box are still finger tight. Otherwise it’s very likely a dish misalignment or possibly a failing LNB.

As you are connected to a communal dish you need to persevere with your building management company / landlord who will have their approved engineers to contact. You presumably pay them an annual fee for its maintenance.

@Vlad154 When you changed to a replacement Sky Q receiver it would have arrived configured to use the default Wideband LNB mode, but as you are fed from a communal distribution system you would have needed to enter the 'hidden' engineers menu and re-configure your replacement receiver to use the Single Cable Router (SCR) LNB mode and then remove the mains power for around 30 seconds.

Then, when you powered up once again your Sky Q receiver would have re-configured itself to now use the SCR LNB mode required for communal distribution systems.

So, is your replacement Sky Q receiver configured to be using SCR LNB mode.

To configure a Sky Q receiver to use SCR LNB mode;

Press Home
Scroll to Settings - but do not press enter/select at this point
Press 0 0 1 in sequence followed by the Enter/ select button
you should now get the engineer's menu
Select the LNB Type & set to SCR

After changing the LNB type power down your SKY Q box and restart it for the change to come into effect

Godfrey.

I tried everything, now I can get into menu. For solid few seconds some programs works, but then it shows no sattelite signal. When I check the settings, signal is ticked, so does network.
however I cannot watch anything but BBC, I just found out. This is rather strange. Every other programms I have black screen with No Sattelite Signal. At this point, I have no clue. Still paying, yet not watching.

Hi Godfrey!

Last night when I get home I checked it and yes, sattelite signal was ticked as received. SCR was also ticked and it was saying that my signal strenght was at 80.

so at this moment I have no idea what is wrong with it.

When I turn my tv and my sky q box, menu is fine, for a solid 15s preview from last watched channel is going on, and then it goes black with "no sattelite signal". I still can check the tv guide but that's it. If I chose one of the channel, it gives me blue screen with message on top "no sattelite signal is received"

Thank you for any help.

Thanks for the reply,

Yes, the received signal seems to be strong. Yet it still shows no signal at all, which is rather strange for me.
At this moment, I have no idea what to do? Because my local commune management said, they checked the building and everything is fine, also SKY told me that everything is right with them.
No clue.

@Vlad154 wrote: SKY told me that everything is right with them.

As I understand it, without actually sending a Multiple Development Unit (MDU) tained engineer to check the signal emerging from the communal distribution faceplate in your flat Sky can only remotely check the quality of reception for just the default Tp4 satellite transponder signal that you are receiving, and will have no way of remotely determining the quality of reception being achieved from the other 50 satellite transponder signals that you will require for error free Sky Q reception.

In situations where the communal management representatives claim to have checked that their communal distribution system has no faults Sky have always accepted that you will then require one of their MDU trained engineers to ascertain whether you have a problem with your present Sky Q receiver or a problem with the communal SCR signal that is emerging from your communal distribution faceplate in your flat.

So, I suggest that you inform Sky that you have followed their published initial procedure correctly and have reached the stage where you now require the attendance of a Sky MDU trained engineer to resolve this problem without further delay.

Any Sky MDU trained engineer will be able to replace your Sky Q receiver by their Televes H30 test meter and scan the performance of all the 51 required satellite transponder signals, whilst in SCR mode, to indisputably determine if you have a problem with your Sky Q receiver, or a problem with the quality of your communal Integrated Reception System installation emerging from the IRS distribution faceplate in your flat.

For example, this is a typical image of a communal SCR distribution signal that is achieving at least the required 11 dB Modulation Error Ratio (MER) quality on all the required satellite transponder signals.

Godfrey.
