Hi guys,

I was looking at my box settings recently and I notice that I was only set to 1080i... Pretty sure I'd set this to 2160p previously, but hey ho. Anyway, I can't appear to set the res to 2160p 10 bit, despite it being supported. Best I get is 8.

Thoughts? I'm using very decent 8K HDMI cables to my devices.

Thanks.

Check the settings in your TV's menu for the HDMI you are using, I can't remember the setting specifically for LG but look for options like Deep color, Enhanced (I think that is Sony) - although I think most modern TVs now default to these it is worth checking

Update: I hadn't thought about this issue for ages but then, whilst watching the football (ITV HD) at the weekend, I thought to myself - "this picture seems a bit grainy?"

Upon looking in my Sky box settings, it appears that the resolution had set back to 1080i on its own! I upped it back to 2160p and it applied fine and I watched the rest of the match in a much better res. However, when I switch off and back on again, the box seems to struggle and ultimately revert back to the lowest setting.

What do we reckon, try a different cable maybe?

Thanks.

Although I had my 32B0xx box set to 10 bit, there is no advantage as the box is not HDR compatible. So 8 bit is fine with arguably the best choice and picture. No idea if the 32B0xx 10 bit now carries the HDR coding, if it does then you will now get a dark picture.

I have never had an LG but I believe the key setting (as I mentioned earlier) is Deep Color.

TBH if you have a v1 box & you can set it to 2160 8 bit I doubt if you would really see the difference in 10 bit - you would probably need to have identical screens next to each other to spot the very subtle differences in colour palette the 10bit gives

Although I used 10 bit with my v1 box and my Panasonivc TV I could not tell the differnce wetween 8 bit & 10 bit (I now have a V2 box so get HDR)

The big difference using 10 bit with HDR (v2 & V3 boxes only)
