The margins between them all in the recent hdtvtest shootout are small but the Samsung comes out slightly better in a bright room. and the best living room TV.

Really any choice is down to personal preferences.

One of the reasons I stopped watching HBO content on Sky several years ago was because they used such a high level of compression that it caused horrendous posterisation and near-black flickering to occur on dark scenes. No amount of money spent on a TV could improve that.

Sky have improved their compression in recent years, particularly on UHD HDR content, but less compressed content from third party apps on a dedicated streaming device as opposed to a Q box, still tends to look better.

MiniLED TVs can produced excellent image quality. Look for one with as high a peak brightness as possible and as many local dimming zones as possible. Try and watch some dark content on one before committing to buy. Some can have aggressive dimming algorithms where the backlight fluctuations can be distracting or cause blooming around subtitles.

I personally much prefer OLED which, although less bright than mini-LED, produces an overall better image quality for me, especially as we don't watch much TV in daylight.

Get an OLED. Mini LED is ok but OLED is still the best.

unless you tend to watch in a bright room during the day.

Thus any differences are extremely marginal.

There is no real justification in having DV over HDR10+ unless the individual has a collection of HDR blu-ray's with most of the streaming sources having both DV and HDR10+ content anyway.

Sky Q outputs in HLG , alongside the BBC's iplayer content.

The G5 was actually released flawed and with many picture quality issues, LG has released a number of firmware updates in an attempt to resolve them but the 'purists' are still stating they are there.

@steveblue8 wrote:

Thanks for the reply

yes people do say greenish blueish tint on LG G5 and burn in still a problem?

Also samsumg S95F has magenta tinge with burn in?

I thought about Bravia 9 but feedback says they are rubbish?

so many different tv types its mind blowing?

Burn in isn't such an issue with today's oled's unless you are doing silly things such as running the picture mode in vivid, with a bright stationary on screen graphic and 24/7. As for the magenta tint on the s95f I can assure you this hasn't really been a reported issue. If you have a bright viewing environment with large sunny windows then that's the best tv for that environment. Having said that 2025 flagship tv's are all still overpriced thus, if you can get one, a 65" s95d, or the equivalent LG can represent better value.

The only issue with viewing a tv at a electric store is that they will not be setup correctly and the lighting within the store doesn't represent a home environment at all.

I suggest you have a look at that link I posted as the sub forums have all the makes in them.

Currently it seems to be accepted that the s90f is one of the better value for money midrange tv's at the moment. There are lower budget tv's, such as Hisense and TCL though.

Much also depends upon your usage and what you view on your tv, do you game at all?

I can state it clearly works when you have a bright room with reflections.
