topic Forever lost recordings in Sky Q

So I had an issue with my Q box and I got in touch with a human representative after exhausting all the different avenues. They were very patient with me trying to resolve the issue. But in the end no joy, a new Q box was needed. I won't fault this level of customer service, where i have an issue is at no point was it mentioned that receiving the new box, I would loss all recordings forever which was heart breaking as I had recordings that featured love ones. Yes I could search for these programmes but stress to do so is stress in its self.

Why aren't recordings backed up into a cloud. If we can store photos, emails in cloud account, why not recordings

Hi @UrbanHangSuite

Realistically all PVRs are designed for time shift recording rather than permanent storage & are designed from a time before cloud services.

Modern TV services are based around streaming and playlists with 'pointers' to the Providers server copies rather each individuals own copy
