Connecting my skybox to my projector

I have just bought a new projector and sound system I'm trying to connect the sky Q box to gaimoo gm200. I purchased a 4K high definition HDMI wire and the sound is coming through, but not the picture. How do I sort this

It seems the projector doesn't support HDCP? If this is the case then it will simply not work.

First thing I would try is 1080p output instead of 4k

To be able to receive UHD from a main Sky Q box an output device must support 4K at 60Hz and HDCP 2.2

The manufacturers of extremely budget projectors tend to cut corners: it's unfortunately quite legal to advertise '4K' without meeting either of these specifications (i.e. 4K at 30Hz without HDCP)

Also if the Q output is running through an audio device to reach the projector, that device needs to support 4K at 60Hz and either HDCP 2.2 or HDCP passthrough too.

The Q box outputs 50Hz unless you use an app though at which point it might use 60 if you've turned that option on.

I would lay money it supports hdcp. I don't think that's the issue but probably the projector only supports 4k@30 as you suggested.

You'd think but none of the specs I could find mention it...

Definitely worth trying some different resolutions.

I tend to advise looking for 4K at 60Hz because that's how reputable manufacturers label hardware (the alternative being 4K at 30Hz or no mention at all ; )

Yeah good point, if they can do 50 they can almost certainly (and more likely to label the fact) do 60.

I suspect it's a chipset thing, with the relevant wholesale silicon components specified for either 30Hz or 60Hz (and now 120Hz) and priced accordingly on the global market.

You've acquired an extremely budget device from a manufacturer which appears to have no internet presence of its own at all: that's probably not ideal.
