If you / your Mum decide to go with an independent satellite company that may well be quicker but two things to be wary of

that will be your Mums own cost, Sky won't reimburse her.

if the dish is moved to a location unsuitable for Sky engineers to maintain it, that will cause additional problems in the future from a maintenance point of view. Skys H & S policy is quite detailed compared to that from a local firm.

My mum who's 85 and not tech savvy has asked me to sort out DAT visit. She has been without a proper signal for 4 weeks even though she's had two engineer visits. The Difficult Access Team did not show up on the day. I have been on to Sky several times who have said it is in hand and someone will be in touch. Just at wits end now and don't know how else to resolve this.

With a lot of satellite engineers being made redundant in 2024 there is possibly a shortfall in the number of suitable engineers in her area. What is causing the need for this team? What have Sky said is the cause for a delay?

Her dish needs to be moved higher as there are very tall trees which are causing the signal issue. Sky have not said what is causing the delay. They say someone will be in touch. I have called them several times and I get different people on the phone. Then I have to go over everything each time.

Wait times for dish repairs are probably only going to increase, so getting a decent independent installer to deal with issues is almost certainly going to be quicker, if more expensive.
