I have a new sky q box being delivered this week sometime

unfortunately I cannot disconnect the old one -perhaps I need an engineer to come out to install it

I don't think that is something that Sky will necessarily send an engineer to do especially if they've arranged a 'doorstep box swap' (remember to remove the viewing card from the current box).

Perhaps ask a family member, friend or neighbour to help if you're struggling.

Is it the screw caps in the satellite cables? They can be quite tight. A gentle grip with a pair of pliers usually does the trick, or sometimes just a tea-towel is enough to allow finger pressure to work with less pain!
