WiFi stability V SkyQ

General query how is the WiFi stability with NON SKY broadband, I have SkyQ and for the past few months it persistently disconnects from the Virgin broadband and both Q and minis need resetting (a regular issue on Q forum).

Have 250Mbps broadband and nothing else in the house has issues.

Wondering if it's time to dump Q

Q to Q connectivity does not use your broadband.

It creates its own 80MHz 5GHz mesh on channel 36 by default. Ensure your virgin router is not interfering with this - Ensure the channel is at least 52.

As a non-Sky ISP then the main box will only connect over 2.4GHz. I would suggest ensuring any band steering is disabled (Best to create a dedicated 2.4GHz SSID)

...there a millions using this configuration - but it can be a bit flaky (as per the regular posts on the forum).

I'm on VM and rock solid - but using an Ethernet-connection mesh.

@PandJ2020 may well be the case if it was Q to Q but it's Q connecting to the WiFi that's the issue which subsequently drops out the Mini. Plus it's worked perfectly for years no setting in the background have changed.

Firmware changes perhaps. (Can happen automatically)

But the 2.4GHz part applies as above... Always best to cable if you can...

I'm trying to post a question in SKY STREAM to ask SKY STREAM users a question, I'm fully aware ot the hints and answers over the months regarding connectivity issues with SKYQ,

I am trying to ask IN SKY STREAM about users experiences.

Your moving and deleting IS NOT HELPFUL.

Used to be a good place for advice this over the many years as a Sky user.

the title was a bit misleading/ambiguous

Stream is completely different. I don't think it's nearly as uncooperative with 3rd party wifi

@Chodley Good to hear that Stream may be less WiFi flaky with non Sky broadband may be worth a look.
