When I turn on SKY HD box to sky news it cuses glitches on the sky Q box-Help

I had 2 dishes until recently and got a local say guy to come and replace the SKY Q wideband lnb with a lnb that will work with sky hd and sky Q that was 2 weeks ago. The SKY HD box is in another room and I noticed today when I turn on Hd box to say ksy news it interferes with the signal to the SKY Q box in that I get no satellite signal and it will come back if I turn off the SKY hd box. The guy came back today and went on roof and said they changed lnb but got same fault. Told give it a few days.

I think the LNB is a smart lnb and it should have been a hybrid lnb with legacy outputs.

Is there any workround as the sat guy is stumped. I cant get to dish as I need a longer ladder and a bit old. THE HD box is for FREE TO AIR CHANNELS only.

Clearly this should not happen.

I doubt if there is much we can offer especially if the Satellite installer is stumped - although of course there is a chance that they are not fully geared up for Wideband & Hybrid LNBs

You are limited if you can't get access - any chance you can get them back or anyone else who could access it & provide images of the LNB and cabling -

Can you check with the Installer that they have cabled all cables directly to the separate inputs on the LNB rather than via some form of switch or combiner.

One thing that might give some clue is to know is if you could advise if it works when some other channels are on the SKY HD box - maybe if you can list a half dozen when it works & half dozen when it doesn't (ideally use this link to pick different transponders (low & high frequencies) & polarities)

The Sky Smart LNB has a very distinctive shape, can you confirm that the LNB fitted to your dish resembles this image of a Sky EL010 Smart LNB

I will try and get a closer look but it looked quite a bit smaller than the above so thats that ruled out.

Just an update I got guy back and he said he changed lnb but same fault occurred, he said wait a few days. I then used bbc news hd AND that seemed to settle it down, went back to Sky news and no interference.

thanks for replies, will give it a week. I was surprised he left the wideband lnb.
