Change from HD to Sky Q

I have three HD boxes in different parts of the house and two separate dishes. If I change to Sky Q do I need to change all nboxes and have new dishes fitted? Also what is the extra cost of Q over my HD subscription?

Not sure why you have two dishes but Sky Q will only need one dish. If it's still in good repair it won't need changing but the LNB (bit on the end of the arm) will.

Any mini boxes needed for other TVs don't connect to a dish. As for cost it might cost less, although for the mini boxes (which are also loaned by Sky) you'll pay an activation fee and you'll need to subscribe to Multiscreen.

I will cc in one of the other Superusers who has compiled a helpful guide for those thinking of transitioning from Plus to Q which may provide some insight into something you hadn't considered.

THe subscriptions for Q are the same to those for SKY HD (Assuming you are already on SKY Signature) except Multiroom is replaced by Multiscreen & you may be charged one off fees for more than one mini box

@NASHY27 just add to what @Daniel0210 @nigea99 have stated with the Sky Q multiscreen you only pay 1 subscription fee and you can have a maximum of 4 mini boxes loaned to you by Sky. There are limitations on the number of boxes you can view at the same time which is as follows

All 2TB boxes and the UHD/HDR 1TB permit watching on two mini boxes and the main box at 1 time.

You may also be able to use a 3rd mini box at the same time if you’re using it for one of the apps such as Netflix.
The older 1TB non UHD box only allows you to watch on 1 mini box as well as the main box .

Where as on Sky+HD you pay a subscription fee for each multiroom box you have so straight away you would be saving 1 multiroom subscription
