Tv signal problem

For the past 5 to 6 days my tv signal has just been flickering on most of my channels. I'm just wondering if I can get a discount of my bill for the interruption it has caused.

It depends on what the issue is and Sky are unlikely to consider any credit prior to reporting it to them...

Is it a satellite reception issue do you know?

Yeah most probably as my channels are back now but it just happens out the blue. Thanks for helping

If it's your own dish then it's likely to be a small alignment issue.

Flickering doesn't sound like a dish thing. That's usually binary - either working or "no sat signal".

Hello I have a sky q box with admin lead and most channels not working. I've tried everything and still no signal

No signal or no satellite signal?

A message displaying ”no signal” tends to be generated from your TV and normally means your TV’s not seeing the Sky box on the relevant HDMI input.

If you’re seeing a “no satellite signal” message check that the connections from the Sky dish going into the back of your Sky Q box are still finger tight. Otherwise it’s very likely a dish misalignment so check the troubleshooting on this link

It may then give you the opportunity to arrange an engineer to check the alignment of your dish. If it doesn’t you’ll need to contact Sky to book an engineer appointment.

If you are connected to a communal dish you need to liaise directly with your building management company / landlord who will have their approved engineers to contact.

It’s worth noting that:

1 - a misalignment is not necessarily something that will be visible to the naked eye and could only affect one or two channels and

2 - a Sky Q box requires a periodic 'Keep alive' signal that is delivered via the satellite so if that isn’t received the box will close down until the satellite signal is restored.

You seem to have this issue frequently and ask each time on here and we provide the same advice. Have you called Sky to arrange an engineer?

Yes most definitely I bet sky love Britain due to weather because everyone is paying a lot of money and most of time you can't watch live tv due to weather. A massive thankyou for your help have a great day

You need to contact your building management company again then. They will have dedicated engineers to call upon.

That shouldn't be the case. In the 10 years plus that I used Sky's satellite tv service, it was very rare that it was unuseable due to poor weather - a handful of times over the entire period.

Your communal dish needs looking at.

Yeah, same. I suspect this dish isn't installed very securely.
