Hi thanks for replying with that info. My sky box is sat on its own with full ventilation, I don't have it placed inside a TV unit/cabinet or anything like that same as my boys PlayStation - I keep them free & out in the open on top of the wooden unit so they wont get hot. This noise is new, never done it before. It is only quiet but noticeable. The box isn't hot or anything, it's just a strange noise that has never been there before.

Thankyou for your help

My sky box has started making a constant low noise level, clicking/pulsing noise. Why? It does it when I'm watching TV and when the TV us turned off.

Q has 2 sources of noise - the hard disk and fan.

Hard disk's naturally make a certain amount of whirring and tinkling but should not be excessive.

The fan can work harder (and noisier) if the box is getting hot. Sometimes they can 'stuck' on and a power cycle will fix it.

Ensure the box has sufficient airflow. However, if may get to a point where it needs replacing if excessive.
