When you switch rooms you would need to switch the cables at the dish as well as moving the box and connecting it in the new room.

I am trying to find out if you can have two connections going into the house for the main sky Q box. Not 2 Sky Q boxes just access points for both rooms to the same dish I guess. This is because Half the year we will switch rooms and I prefer to watch UHD content so will bring the main sky Q box with me. We do have sky Q mini boxes but they don't show UHD. Hopefully that clears it up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated before I pay for an engineer to come out. Thank you

It's not something Sky will install.

You would have to enquire with a local firm about an internal distribution unit and wiring. (I suspect it will amount to several hundred pounds)

...unless temporary extension leads will reach?

Hi @Liam1029

If you only plan to switch occasionally, depending on the distance, I would suggest you could consider laying a cable from the current box position to the other room by whatever route is best for you. .

Then when you want to move the box you just join the cables together

The recommended cable is WF100 (although if it is a very short run smaller cable maybe OK) and would need F plugs at both ends with f-F connectors at the join (although you could use a wall box outlet as a possible alternative)

As this only means extending the cables, you do not need a Satellite installer just someone who can lay the cable and connect the plugs / outlet socket - there are Youtube videos showing how to connect the plugs

Don't forget moving the man box would also mean it must be able to connect to your home network OK from the other room (wifi or ethernet)

We would not recommend moving the main box frequently
