Issues with UHD

I've just upgraded to a Sky Q UHD box. When I watch Sky sports UHD the picture quality is amazing. However when watching HD channels the picture quality is terrible, especially on dark/nightime pictures. Any ideas how to resolve this issue?

UHD and HD signals have different stored settings on the TV, have you tried tweaking them independently?

I've had a play around with the tv settings but not had much luck. Kind of just assumed that it would auto adjust depending on the quality of the program!?

Well, it will as far as processing the different colour encoding between HDR and SDR is concerned (most TVs default to brightness at 100% for HDR) but everything else is adjustable like normal.
