Sky Q Mini box Picture quality

Hi guys, have finally made the plunge to sky q.

Didnt really want to change but only way to get a better deal was to have a q minibox and thus upgrade all to q

Sky have fianlly been out to do it all and the picture quality from the q mini is crap - Issue is where the q mini box is located is primarily where dad sits and soon as he saw it he said why is gone down and crap.

Due to the mini streaming from the q i guess that is why, but is there noway to get the pic back to how it was with our lovely HD box's?

Do you have a HD sub and watching HD channels?

(Sounds like you are viewing SD content)

The main will stream HD to the mini so there should not be any issues. (However note you cannot view UHD on the mini)

SKy Minis are fully capable of full HD so should not be worse than the old HD box (although I think some people think they can appear slightly softer)

Is it connected via HDMI and what is the setting in :

Home - Settings - Setup - Audio Visual -Picture Resolution

Can you also give any further info as to why you find it poor (fuzzy or breaking up etc.)

hi @c_187

Is it plugged into the same HDMI port as the old was ?

Have you tried selecting a different TV Picture mode (the options vary by TV manufacturer & model) but may be called things like Cinema , Normal, Vivid, sports etc.

As a test, as the minis are quite portable could you try temporarily connecting to the same TV as your main box (maybe use the same HDMI cable as you don't need to see the main box at the same time) and see how it seems on that TV (although of course the mini can't display 4K - only a max of 1080)

BTW did you check the resolution the mini is set to ?
