If it continues for longer than 30min and the case becomes too hot to touch then power down, and wait for it to cool, then call SKY and talk to an advisor about replacing the box?

The box its sited on a unit with nothing around it to prevent overheating

this problem has only arisen since i had a vist from an engineer who replaced the box i had been using for years

Unplug the network cable from the sky box and connect sky to your router via wifi. If that works, then you can reconnect the router to the sky box, but thorugh an old 10/100MB switch. It's ridiculous but it worked for me... I had 5 boxes before I worked this out.

My box ran hot for a while - I ended up putting a large heatsink on the back left of the box (outside obviously, but a 3 inch by 6 inch by 3 inch high heatsink from an old power amp), which also incidentally solved a high pitch whine the box was making. Its over the place the satellite connections come in, and has solved both problems - heat and noise, and the fan hardly ever runs now.
