Should the light be steady or should it flicker when transmitting audio? I suspect the converter is faulty but I am trying the eliminate sky box/cable/converter fault. Any help would be most helpful.
Clearly one should never look directly at it - looking sideways on to my computer output optical port as I write this it appears fairly constant (my SKY Q box is out of sight) - so I suspect it is OK.

One thought - what age is your TV - does that have optical out as many have done for a while - if so could you try that or any other equipement that might have an optical out

A further thought - double check the setting in

Home - Settings - Setup - Audio Visual
Digital audio output Optical

and check that it is set to Normal as your converter probably can't process Dolby Digital

Thank you for your quick reply. My tv does not have an optical output and I don' have any other devices that have an optical output either. From what you suggest I think I can eliminate the SkyQ box. Many thanks.

Hmm. Think the normal stereo output from the Q is 48 or 96. Can it handle 24bit wide audio?
