Sky Q box gets very hot

Noticed at night the back of the Sky Q box glows red as it is so hot. Is this normal or faulty. Many thanks in advance for advice.

Hi @Florrie

The Red glow is normal as it comes from the Optical audio output socket.

Q boxes can run quite warm but not so hot that you cannot easily bear your hand on them.

When the back of the box was glowing red last night I switched the tv and sky Q box off and it cooled down. If I'd left it on standby does the box switch itself off and cool down once the tv is turned off? Thanks

Hi @Florrie
If you put the Q box into standby with the remote and the led on the front right of the box turns Amber instead of green then it it essentially off.

Depepening on the Standby mode of the Q box in settings it will go into a low power sleep mode in the early hours if in Eco standby.
