Sky q box won’t switch on

My original sky q box hard drive broke and was sent a new one.
connected it up to the tv and keeps saying check connection. Everything is in the right place and the box has a red light that won't go off.
tried pressing the red button but doesn't turn on, nothings working.
should I ring sky and get a new box sent out again?

Is the red light in the centre of the Q box or on the right?

Looks like you may need another Q box.

If you have to order a new Q box this usually means a doorstep swap.
Don’t forget to keep your viewing card from the failed box if you order a replacement.
Also if the box you are replacing is a 2TB there are two versions of power supply. One has a standard C7 (figure of eight) power lead socket in the back of the Q box. The other has a separate power supply. Although this still has the C7 power lead into the power supply there is a multi pin Din power socket in the Q box for connecting the power supply. Make sure that the replacement box has the power supply included if the Q box has the orange coded multi pin din socket in the back of the Q box.

No to sound thick how do I know the difference? Are the boxes different

Yes @Donna809 the boxes do have differences although the function is the same

Sone have an inbuilt power supply where the mains lead plugs directly in the Q box.
Some have a separate power supply which needs an orange coded socket on the Q box. See below
