So forgive my ignorance but I'm no expert. Right I've downloaded the House of Dragons in UHD on a cheap UHD TV. I'm about to purchase a flagship Oled TV.

(Sony A95L). Now when I plug my new TV into my Sky Q box will I get the quality of the cheap TV or will the new flagship TV enhance the picture accordingly?

How much of a difference you will notice may be down to your own perception but my guess is that you will notice it

OLEDs definitely have some clear benefits - much deeper blacks & also do not suffer from off-axis drop off that LCD screens do.

I don't know the Sony TV personally but I seem to recall it has had some good reviews

Further to what @nigea99 says, I would also suggest you download the UHD HDR versions of House of the Dragon as these will offer a noticeable difference in image quality, especially on a top-end TV such as the Sony A95L which is extremely capable with HDR (High Dynamic Range) content.

The TV has a Netflix calibrated mode so if you use the app on the TV (rather than on your Q box) you will benefit from vastly improved image quality with many titles available in Dolby Vision (if you subscribe to Netflix Premium.)

Yes the native Netflix app on my TV does seem to be better than the Sky Q Netflix app for some reason.

We do recommend using the TV's inbuilt apps rather than via SKY Q

As @Mister_Dalek says they usually offer Dolby Vision (with the relevant sub) and HDR 10+ (used on some Prime titles) and more likely to be tuned to the TV

The Sky Q box is really beginning to show its age these days. I always recommend people use other devices or their TV app to access Netflix. The apps on Sky Q are there for convenience and aren't necessarily the best quality. It can't output Dolby Vision for example or native frame rates, it being locked to 50 or 60Hz.

The only problem you will have on an OLED @Fidel+59 is as already mentioned, the blacks are inky black.

We do not want you back here complaining dark scenes in a cave are so dark you cannot see anything until a dragon lights things up! 🤣
