@dfserra89 If your communal Integrated Reception System installation is using modern dSCR multiswitches in the central IRS distribution cabinets then you should just need to connect your Sky Q receiver to the wall mounted IRS media plate in your new flat.

If your communal IRS istallation is still using old legacy Universal LNB multiswitches then Sky would have needed to install a Unitron dCSS-422 Sky Q Plug-In adaptor for your Sky Q receiver in your old flat, and depending upon whether the previous resident in your new flat had a Sky Q receiver, a Unitron dCSS-422 adaptor might already be installed, or a Sky Multiple Development Unit (MDU) trained engineer will be required to install an adaptor for you in your new flat.

Thus, it is prudent for Sky to book a MDU trained engineer who can ensure that whatever is required can be simply resolved when they visit.

If you find that when you move and connect your Sky Q receiver it works without the need for the attendance of a MDU trained engineer it should be a simple task to cancel their attendance.

Godfrey.

I'm moving flats in the same building. I've currently went through the online process, and I was automatically booked an engineer visit. But is it really needed or can I just plug in my Sky Q box to the socket in the new flat and it will work? (The building has a communal dish)

hi @dfserra89

it depends on whether the Communal System is suitable for SKY Q on all connections.

More often than not SKY Q is set up by installing an 'adapter' in the communal System but these generally only support a couple of connections, so this may need to be done or moved for your new apartment's connection
