topic Sky Q installation query in Sky Q

Hi. I am looking to get sky q. The previous owners of the house already had sky and have a dish on the roof. When I moved in, we accidentally cut one of the internal wires that goes into the sky box. From a google search, it appears this can be fixed with a connector. Is this something the engineer would bring with them or how would I communicate with them before coming out to install what is required? Thanks

Hi @AP41

Sky Installers are unlikely to use Connectors and would normally replace any cables that are suspect or in bad condition.

Also it's likely that the previous owners had Sky +HD and not Sky Q. If this this is the case then the LNB would need to be changed.

The main issue is going to be the position of the Satellite dish. Sky installers need to install or work on the Dish from a ground based ladder and will not work on roofs.

A Sky Q install includes dish and cables and so it might be necessary to install a new dish in a more accessible location
