Sky booster not working

We cannot get the booster to work. The orange light does not come on/flash and the sky q mini box keeps dropping out. Can anyone help please?

Hi @landykins

Assume your Booster is a Sky Q booster?

Also if it is used to connect your mini it needs to be located midway between between the mini and main box.

If this is the case:

On the booster the power and wireless lights need to be green.
Hold the WPS button on your booster for 3 seconds until it flashes amber. Then hold the WPS button on the front of your main Q for 3 seconds until it flashes amber - You'll need to do it within 2 minutes.
The connected light on the booster should turn green when the booster is connected

Then try a Network Reset on the mini.
Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to WPS with booster.
You will be asked to press the WPS button on the booster (not the mini as the Network reset will start the mini WPS automatically).

@oldfella - thanks but that's the problem, the orange light doesn't come on.
Was working fine until the weekend

@oldfella The amber light that comes on when you hold the WPS button for 3 seconds.... it doesn't 😞

But is this on the booster or the main Q box or the mini?

Exactly what are you carrying out and what are you trying to connect?

So, it's the mini box. Changed the router at the weekend and since then the booster hasn't worked.
Tried the set up and the step where you hold the WPS on the booster and the amber light comes on, light doesn't come on.
Not hopeful, but I'll probably have to try and contact Sky. Not easy to get to talk to a person though 😏

Hi @landykins

Does the Booster have Two green lights and has it already been connected to the main Q box?

@oldfella @As I said from the beginning, it worked fine until 4 days ago. It is not new, it's at least 3 years old and has never been a problem until now.

2 green lights on, main box, on mini box on - booster not working.

You stated you've changed the router, is it still a Sky one?

no, it's BT. They changed it because of the digital phone service. We've always been BT though and like I said, it has worked for years. We've gone through all the troubleshooting and reset as per Sky pages but think it's the booster box that's kaput as it will do everything until you press the WPS - nothing happens. Just about to ring Sky but whether I get through and how long I'll be on hold ......😏

Then I don't understand why you're contacting Sky if the booster is BT?

Erm..... the router is BT, the booster is Sky, provided by Sky, installed by a Sky engineer .... don't think BT would be interested???
Anyway the Sky Q mini box seems to have kicked in 🤞
