Hi All - we live in a low fibre speed area of Cheshire, and previously relied on Sat dish for a Sky Q setup.

We have now installed Starlink for internet, having recently completed a full remodel of our home.

We are just about to reinstate Sky - and would like a Sky Q type setup with dish.

Whats my best option for equipment and setup to get the most out of the Ske system (no Sky glass or stream options would work and wish to stay with the TVs we recently purchased) - many thanks all

Many thanks - I was thinking the same - not sure if there is a bigger dish or just regular size is as good, and then try and use Starlink for home internet network and aky for home phone/tv

Sky would also use your starlink connection for all its online components /services, and its dish for live TV broadcasts.

You just need a Sky Stream puck attached to each TV you wish to view your Sky subscription on. Pucks are loaned to you in the same way as Sky Q boxes are. They operate independently of each other and need fast and stable broadband in each room in which they will be situated.

Sky Stream also does not record in the same sense as Sky Q - you can add shows to a playlist which should then stream them when you want, but it depends on individual streaming rights from individual broadcasters. If you like to record, skip through ads and watch what you want when you want with ease then Sky Q is probably best for you.

Your Starlink broadband should be more than enough for downloading on demand content to your Q box.

Sky dishes are Zone 1 (standard) or Zone 2 (typically used in Scotland and Northern Ireland)

https://digitec-aerials.co.uk/are-there-any-differences-between-zone-1-and-zone-2-satellite-dishes

Note that Q absolutely cannot run through the Starlink dish for live satellite television reception, but it can use the internet service delivered by Starlink for its online functions.

@SteveMF64 wrote:

You can't use Sky for phone calls unless Sky is the ISP. The Sky Talk voice service is delivered over Sky broadband only, and cannot be subscribed to or carried over Starlink.
