Control does not work - no red light despite fresh batteries

Try to switch on a Sky Q box with remote control that's not been used for a while - It worked as it should do to turn on the TV but can't turn on the Sky box.

Full of instructions to try resetting the remote but it's red light does not come on.

Changed batteries to new (and checked their charge) so that's not the problem.

Also tried leaving the batteries out for a while - no benefit.

Any ideas what next?
