Moving home and sky q box

I am moving home shortly and have told sky. I have a sky Q box but they have said they will be sending me a new one and I need to give the courier back my current one. My current one has plenty of programmes recorded which I will lose when I hand the box back, just wondering if anyone knows if I can keep my current one rather than having to have a new one and therefore keep my recordings.

@jennifet Have you followed the proper moving home instructions and initiated a home move? This should transfer your existing contract to the new property allowing you to keep the box

sounds like they are talking about a cancellation rather then a home move (which is what you require)

Hi, yes I went through the moving home procedure and got a date for the broadband and the engineer for the tv to come to the new house, but also an email saying I would be sent a new box and I should hand the old box back to the courier who delivers the new one.

That sounds like an error: there's no need to swap out a Q box as part of a Home Move.
