We keep getting a message appearing on our television when watching tv saying I need to sign in to an old email address to sort out.

The Sky box doesn't send/receive/display emails, so this will be coming either from the TV itself or another device you have connected.

SKY Q does not require a sign in (although the apps do)

Do you get the message when in an app ?

If not I think it may be possible that the message is being generated by your TV itself
