Loss of signal

One of the white wires has been pulled from the back of the main sky q box, I have tried to reattach but the wire won't go through, need an engineer.

Also need replacement mini boxes as the equipment is old and damaged too.

you can't just push the wire in. It has to be reattached to the plug properly to make sure the contact is clean for the centre wire and the outer sheath.

you have to unscrew the f-plug from the box to do this. It's not engineer territory to be honest. Simpler than wiring a plug.

Sky will only replace Sky Q box / mini boxes if they are faulty and not working. They won't replace them once they are of a certain age. If you've damaged them you're likely to be charged for any replacement as and when the damaged one is returned.

I ended up getting an engineer after you gave less than accurate advice, all problems now fixed but this service was no use, and tbh quite patronising.

The engineer required tools to reattach the wire to the box so maybe not quite like wiring a plug.

Interesting. What tool did he use? The end caps can be quite tricky to loosen but are usually hand-tight. Maybe it needed cutting, which has to be done carefully and there are specialist cutting tools for that, if the cable was damaged badly enough when it got pulled out.

@Chodley wondering if he used crimped connecters as they used crimped connecters on mine when they set it up 8 years ago and that is what @Claremcnic saw the engineer using

Ah yeah possibly. Don't like those, but probably quicker & easier for installers.
