I've solved the problem! I've put the Q box on a metal stand (that came with a pizza stone) and it seems to have done the trick 😀

I got a Sky Q box last week and it was humming straight away. Tried turning off etc, no joy. Ordered a new box, arrived within 24hrs (impressed) but same thing, loud humming. It's constant, whether box is on or off. Never had this problem with Sky + HD box. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution? Thanks

Thanks

It's a "thing" with Sky Q - the hard drive never spins down completely, even when the box is in standby. I discovered the same as you when I switched from Sky+ HD to Q a few years ago.

Some Q boxes are quieter than others but none of them are completely silent unfortunately.

All you can do is keep getting a replacement until you get one that's as quiet as possible. If it's any consolation, you do get used to it eventually, but if you're sensitive to noise then it is a pain.

With Sky Q, the box never goes completely silent. The hard drive will spin down when put in standby but the fan will remain spinning constantly. It cannot be turned off.
