Do check that all the relevant options in Parental Controls are appropriately set but as I say you may need it for some

Our advice is to set the PIN to something like 1111 to help enter it when needed

Parental controls are all set to off. When watching a crime channel it requests I enter my pin at the end of every program.

Some channels including Sky Crime can show programmes that are only suitable for adults before 9pm, but under Ofcom rules these must be PIN protected, even if the user has turned off PIN protection.

Regardless of what settings you have on your Q box Ofcom dictates the following:-

Television broadcasters must observe the watershed.

Therefore regardless of your settings pin entry will be required in some instances.

Its so annoying having to put in a pin in to watch a program, when NO KIDS are in the house, you should have control over it, whats the point of parental controls if you can not turn it off, if they are all off this should be too, or make so its on by default and can be turn off using it own setting.
Its a silly idea, and especially if someone not use to put in a pin and then put it in wrong 3 times(older people), the pin is only for the Sky Q Box, its not used online or anywhere else.

If there's no kids around then set the PIN to something simple, e.g. 1111

UK broadcasting regulation, based on law made in Parliament, says otherwise.

Any 'Parental Controls' offered by a regulated platform are in addition to Mandatory Daytime Protection, as defined in the Broadcasting Code. The Code specifically states that a platform must not permit customers to remove MDP.

Yes, because in this case the relevant Act of Parliament is over two decades old and so long pre-dates internet speeds fast enough for streaming: it applies to broadcast platforms, content and service.

Strictly speaking that's correct, but I'd think Sky would argue the PIN is effectively fulfilling the requirements set by BAI.

The Code of Programme Standards of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) requires television and radio broadcasters to use at least one of three methods to advise viewers of content, namely: an explicit watershed for adult-oriented programmes; prior warnings before potentially offensive programming; and/or a descriptive classification system.

It's not helpful when you don't have children, I have ADHD and trying to fall asleep watching True Blood downloaded to the Q box but instead of just auto playing each episode it demands the silly pin every single time. That is ridiculously inconvenient in this day and age when the real issue is giving kids from a very young age access to YouTube and the wider internet more so than it is them accidentally watching something pre watershed on Sky Atlantic

"What" exactly? Just set your pin to something simple like '1111'. People moaning about entering a simple 4 digit number...... I'll stop there!

It's not about having a simple pin, it's about wanting to let something run in the background that has been recorded - an 18+ boxset for instance. It's ridiculous that Sky make you enter your pin after each episode. You had no need to comment there at all

Presumably the channel is now carrying content which requires Mandatory Daytime Protection: this would give them access to a much wider range of programmes to fill their schedule.

My suggestion was a valid one that reduces the "pain" of entering 4 digits to allow you to watch a channel that has had a level of control added to it due the 'law of the land' that Sky are forces to adhere to. It's a first world problem that for some reason gets people's backs up & I just don't understand why.
