I finally lost patience last night and dug out some ethernet cables, plugged the main sky q box onto my tplink power line and it all seems stable now. Not ideal as in trying to reduce cabling but it works. My issue is that I cannot remove the original router SSID from the sky q box and after a few minutes it reconnects to the original WiFi with the poor signal.
