My sky Q box switches on but my remote doesn't work on it I've checked the remote on my cousin's box and it works fine do I have a faulty box or is it some other issue

Try removing your batteries and replace them with new ones.
also check the settings to do a reconnection to your box go to sky settings set up amd remote contol. See what remote control you have there and follow the instructions

@Ali1 if the remote works on another box sounds like the remote is fine Have you tried rebooting your main Q box ie
putting your box into Standby then switching it off at the wall for 30 seconds
switch it back on then follow the on screen instructions

then trying the remote again or repairing the remote

To re-pair your remote.
Press the buttons 7 & 9 together on the remote until it’s led flashes four times.
Then press 1 & 3 together until the led flashes twice then follow onscreen instructions to repair the remote.
