So why do I need a dish? Just send the sky channels via the internet too? Sorry for my confusion, it's my partner's Sky, I'm used to using a different company..V

Hi just after some advice, my sky has stopped working because of the snow, (I think) but Disney+ & Netflix are still working, so basically I'm confused why the sky channels are not? Thanks

Hi @Steuk1

Live TV Sky Q channels come by Satellite which will be affected by snow clouds.

Disney and Netflix are streamed via the Internet (ie not transmitted by Satellite)

Therefore online content is not normally affected.

There is probably snow on the LNB on the arm of your dish which will prevent a signal. As soon as it melts it'll come back.

If your partners doesn't want a dish you need to consider Sky Glass or Stream but research them thoroughly as it's a totally different way of viewing.

They are often more flexible too in that you can choose which apps to install and subscribe to. The NOW app allows you to get Sky content on demand (and live) on a cheaper monthly contract than Sky Stream. All the other main UK broadcasters - BBC, ITV, etc each have their own apps for watching content on demand or live too. These are completely free or you can pay a small monthly fee to have ads completely removed from ITVX Premium and Channel 4+.

There are many more options available these days for getting content on your TV. Sky is a convenient way of getting it, but not necessarily the cheapest or most flexible.
