Hello, can you advise why when watching films mainly do you have to turn up the volume to hear the voices, but when the sound track kicks in its almost blasting out so the you turn the volume down again now you cant hear the voices again.... It's most annoying 😑

Hello, can you advise why when watching films mainly do you have to turn up the volume to hear the voices, but when the sound track kicks in its almost blasting out so the you turn the volume down again now you cant hear the voices again.... It's most annoying 😑

hi @Tony_N

This should not really happen.

Most movies and many key entertainment programmes use 5.1 sound which use the centre channel for dialogue. (BTW 5.1 being Left Front, Centre, Right Front, Left & Right Rear channels the .1 being a subwoofer channel)

Some systems that do not have dedicated centre speakers, in particular, can suffer from mixing this centre channel with the Left & Right Channel speakers.

What are you listening with - is it your TV , A Sound bar or AV amp?

What setting are you using in :

Home - Settings - Setup - Audio Visual
Digital audio output HDMI

We do know that sometimes those responsible for the mixing can get the balance a bit wrong, leading to the symptons you describe - especially for those who do not have dedicated speakers - IIRC Dr Who was a known culprit.

That having been said these should be the exception rather than the rule.

I admit I tend not to notice poorer mixes as I have a system with decicated speakers that are some distance apart
