Just so that I'm sure I'm not going mad - the Sky Q interface doesn't offer any way to switch between signed and unsigned versions of streamed video, does it? There's no setting or other option you can select? I've looked in every menu and can't find anything at all.

Sky Q only serving the signed versions of certain shows via "available now" - why?

I don't know why, but when using the integrated Sky Q "available now" function to download and stream some (not all) BBC programmes, it only ever serves up the signed version. I can't find any option or setting to change this.

The two main examples that are affecting me are archive Doctor Who and The Traitors. Accessed via "available now", I can only get the signed versions, so I have to take the extra steps to go via the iPlayer app to watch the unsigned.

Sky themselves have sadly been useless when I previously engaged with them about this, telling me that both the signed and unsigned versions can be viewed via "available now", but not explaining how I can force it to default to unsigned. I cannot find any option or setting to do this within the Sky Q UI.

Anybody have any suggestions? Could it possibly be a specific Sky-side problem with my account? Or is there a setting somewhere within the UI that I've missed?

I've already been into this with both Sky and the BBC.

The BBC have stated explicitly that Sky has been been provided with both the unsigned and signed assets, that this is Sky's problem and only Sky can fix it.

Sky have been about as useful as a cup of cold sick. They have insisted that both the unsigned and signed versions are available via "available now", even claiming to have tested it themselves, but when I asked why I only ever got the signed version of certain shows or how I could switch from signed to unsigned via the Sky Q interface, they did not reply.

Is there any department at Sky you could escalate this to? I'm not convinced that going back to Viewer Relations will be any more useful in achieving resolution of this issue than yelling down my toilet.

An alternative for both Classic Doctor Who & Traitors is to stream using iPlayer unless internet speed is dire
