Hi All

Is tgere any reason why Sky don't use Dolby vision rather than HDR? The difference between the two are night and day.

DolbyVision is HDR. Sky use HLG which is more suited to broadcast.

DV is licensable which may explain it.

I think SKY's version of HDR (HLG) was developed before DV became widespread - IIRC DV only started becoming mainstream after SKY Q HDR started. Many TVs did not orginally support DV - my previous TV only supported HDR 10 & HLG.

Also & possibly even more the reason is that SKY's version (HLG) was specifically designed (by the founders BBC & NHK) for live events

Switrching to now use DV would not be financially viable

...whilst DV is 'better' such a large difference would indicate there may be a configuration/setup issue.
