Sky Q Multiroom Ethernet Connection.

Hi guys,

My current setup is a hard wired (Ethernet) Sky Q box (Connected via Powerlines). My router is in the opposite part of my house, I have an Ethernet cable plugged into my router and the other end of the Ethernet cable goes to my summerhouse at the very end of my garden (70ft)! My question is, if I take Multiroom, could I use the Ethernet cable (that's plugged into my router) and plug that into the mini box or would the Main Sky Q Box & Sky Q Multiroom Box need to be connected? If this is the case I cannot connect the two boxes, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. You'd put a switch in the summer house so that you can wire multiple devices.

Thanks for the swift reply, I thought that too, but the advisor at Sky said it can only be connected via wi fi? So from my router I would have the Ethernet cable travel through my garden to the summer house, then to a switch, then to the Sky Q mini box?

Advisors at Sky vary in their experience / technical skill level. Like anywhere.

Yep. You could put a wifi extender or mesh node that allows ethernet backhaul in there too.
