Cancelling HD on Sky Q

I've called Sky to cancel the HD prt of our subscription, and was told that as we have Sky Q if we cancel HD we won't be able to record anything. Has anyone had this problem?

That's not true.

You won't be able to record certain HD channels or play back certain existing recordings if they are HD.

You will be able to record the free-to-air HD channels (mainly the five PSB stations and their relatives) plus all the subscription SD channels, and play-back existing recording made from those channels.
