Freesat not finding signal

We have Sky Q. Bought a Freesat box as we are cancelling SKY

The internet on the box has connected fine but no satellite signal. Tried leaving it switched on and then leaving it overnight on standby. Still no signal.

Any advice what to do with this please ?

Is it a 4K freesat box ?

The non 4K freesat boxes need a different LNB (the electronic bit on the dish) to SKY Q - although the 4K freesat boxes should be able to use it

It is a 4 k recordable box. Tried all the steps in the other thread to no avail 😔

when does your sky sub end? have a try when the sky signal is switched off as that could be the reason.

I am sorry but a SKY Subscription has no bearing on Freesat channel reception via a Freesat box

@elderwandninja Does your Sky Q receiver still work correctly when you connect the satellite dish coaxial cables back into it?

Do you have your own Sky satellite dish, or are you using a communal Integrated Reception System installation?

It's our own Sky dish. Private house. Sky Q box works

@elderwandninja What happens if you try doing a channel scan by going to Settings, then Freesat Channels and then Channel Scan.

This should indicate what type of LNB is connected and then search for a Freesat satellite transponder signal.

On the top in small text it says a change in cables was detected

The LNB needed to be changed to a UNIVERSAL one. So had to pay a satellite engineer to swop it

Hope this helps anyone else who is moving from Sky Q to Freesat

Do you know the brand? Arris should work with the same LNB as SkyQ, others not.

I had exactly the same issue, today, with my New Freesat 4K 500Gb Recording box. Also moving from SkyQ to FreeSat.

A lot of advice says, that in order to install the required updates, leave the box powered on for 30 mins then put it in standby for 10 seconds.

I found that the above did not work for me.

I had to leave the box in standby for approximatley 10 minutes - after which the standby light (purple) changed to blue, then went off, then went to purple again, then blue, then off and then finally back to purple. 🙂

I assume this was the updates installing.

I then pressed the power button (to turn the box back on) and the search found the satellite signal first time.

So, in my case I kept getting No Signal during the initial setup until I put the box into standby mode and left it for 10 minutes or so. During this time the box installed its updates and the No Signal issue was fixed.

Im having same issue with my LG tv with built in freesat my tvs work fine on same LNB but not on cable feeding freesat?

Unclear what you are saying, but in general the satellite tuner built-in to a television set is unlikely to work through a Q LNB. Freesat 4K boxes will do so, but they contain a different reception technology.

Tv works fine in bedroom on same LNB but not in lounge when i use cables going into SKy Q Box?

Presumably those particular cables are fed from a pair of outputs on the LNB which aren't compatible, so they work for Q but not an older Freesat tuner. That's possible from one of the Sky 'hybrid' LNB models.
