YouTube on SkyQ in 4k/2160?

Hi, I have a UHD subscription, but when I watch through the YouTube app (via Sky Q box) I don't have the option to watch 4k videos in 4k.

I choose a video that I know is available in 4k (I can choose the 2160 setting on my phone or via the Samsung TV app), but when I watch via the Sky Q app, 1080 is the highest available setting.

Is it possible to watch in 2160 via the Sky Q YouTube app?

There are a few different revisions of Sky Q boxes. The newer ones support YouTube 4K but the oldest ones don't unfortunately. I have a second generation box and it supports YouTube 4K/UHD but not HDR.

If you're willing to pay they will, i've seen £99 mentioned for box upgrades.

...and just to be clear, you still won't own the box so you'd have to weight up whether YouTube in 4K/HDR is worth the otherwise throw-away investment, @secretmachines

Why not use the tv app? Wouldn't that be cheaper option?

@Invisiblename because it's a pain in the backside to keep switching around. I have a UHD subscription, it's not much to ask to get it on YouTube like I do on regular channels.

I understand that, but as the Sky Q box was not originally intended to be a "stream everyting" device, it is being asked to do a lot more than was intended. Many of us use the embedded TV apps because they provide better viewing. You are very unlikely to see any further enhancements to the streaming capabilty of Sky Q, so it's your choice.
