Satellite cabling query

I got sky fitted several months ago. I was not home when the job was finished and didn't think much of their work however, a family member has pointed out how bad the job was done. The thick black wires are hanging round my entire living room with silver connector points showing. I tried to hide them behind skirting boards but the wire is too thick and the connector points don't allign with the skirting or door frame. These connector points have given my son an electric shock this morning and after speaking to customer services, they informed me they won't be doing anything. My father has just had sky fitted in recent days. No wires, just a small box that connects through wifi. Surely this can be resolved before I cancel and seek legal advice?

@Anonymous Those wires are nothing to do with broadband they are satellite cables and carry at most 18 volts.

@Anonymous nobody is being rude. Those cables carry the signal from your satellite dish to your Sky Q box. Sky do offer a different TV service which does use Wifi called Sky Stream. The voltage carried is very low so is in no way dangerous but like all electrical kit should not be fiddled with. You cant have satellite TV without those leads Sky Stream is a different service but may suit you better.

If a Sky engineer left the install like that without at least warning you of the implications of where you have the TV then you have a complaint. However if there was a discussion and which ever adult that was present was adament that was what they wanted then its down to you. Firstly you need to be talking to the responsible adult you left in charge for the engineer visit and ascertain what the engineer said about placement of the wiring. Did they challenge it before the engineer left?

Certainly a horrible satellite cable run, but note that Sky installers aren't obliged to attempt a concealed installation, particularly where furniture and other household clutter is in the way, and they should have been supervised.

Migration to Sky Stream is probably an option as long as you have adequate WiFi/Broadband.

I am stuggling to believe that an engineer would place cables like that.

Even if the cable had to go round the door they would nomally run along the skirting board & then round the frame

And I highly doubt a Sky engineer would be haphazardly wrapping red and white tape round the coaxial cable.

If this was done by a Sky Engineer I would be advise getting on the phone to Sky pronto and get them back. also I wouldn't have let them away with doing such a bad job at my house. Looks like to me it was just laziness out of them with doing this install.

Thats the point why would anyone let such a shoddy job be done in their house? i'm thinking it might have been a DIY job.
