I want to view Sky channels on another tv but don't want multi-room or its cost. I just want to be able to continue watvhing the same programme if I go into our new day room extension. I have run a HDMI extension to the other room and tried to connect it to the sky q box with a HDMI splitter. Iget a message on screen saying my TV does not support a HDCP? I have connected each tv to the sky q box separately and they bothe work fine. Is there a solution or do i need to sack sky and find another provider?

No legal content source isn't using HDCP: that's what distinguishes them from the pirates.

Depending on the length of the run you may be able to use a switch with an (not so cheap) 'active' HDMI cable.

What you are trying to do is outside the HDMI/HDCP specification: consequently no platform is obliged to support it.

Trial-and-error may find a hardware and cable combination which works: HDMI 'splitters' in particular are highly variable.

Many thanks, it seems like a quite a simple thing to want to do, why it has been made so complicated is beyond my level of knowledge I'm afraid.

I feel like I am being forced to pay for multi-room when I don't want it, I just want to be able to watch what I am already paying for on another tv.

From memory, one place where this kind of arrangement falls down is if one television is UHD and the other is HD.
