My elderly Sister-in-Law has Sky via HD box has just received a letter offering her SKYQ TV at no extra cost , she does not have internet access is this wrong ?

hi @Diane180

SKY will not be aware whether customers have or don't have Internet - SKY Q, in theory can be used without internet once authorised but in reality is not really ideal & likely to cause frustration

Despite the tone of the letter, your Sister-in-Law does not need to take up the offer.

Sky installers have been known not to put Q in place at addresses where no internet is present because so much Q functionality (and contracted services) rely on broadband and that's likely to lead to customer dissatisfaction.

Q Mini boxes essentially will not function without an internet router being active to provide configuration details.

These guys have said it all but it would be a very bad idea, imho, for your sister-in-law to change from what she has.
