Software update taking too long

Started a software update at 8pm, 2 hours later it says that it is still downloading. TV not working either, with a blank screen on all channels.

Every time my apps don't work I have to do an update, it doesn't update automatically

All Sky boxes update automatically and new software is only released about 3 times per year. When you force a software update all it does is download and reinstall the current software. It shouldn't be something you need to do frequently, if at all.

What do you mean by the apps not working? Which ones and what do they do?
