I currently have Sky Q and 1x Sky mini located upstairs with Sky FTTP. I am considering swapping out the Sky Q hub with an Asus XT8/XT9 mesh. My question is regarding Sky Q and the Sky mini. How confident are you in the connection's reliability between the Sky Q and the mini when the mini is linked through a powerline adapter?

Hi @mitchell_paul_5

As I'm sure you are aware Powerline is heavily reliant on the condition and complexity of your mains wiring.

Using Devolo units here with great success on two minis with main Q box and a further mini on Full Ethernet.

However these are all conventionally connected to a BT router with all Q WiFi off.

All Q boxes must be connected to the same Network and preferably by the same method if not using Sky WiFi.

Not sure how you would intend to connect your boxes.

The normal option I would suggest with any 3rd party mesh system is to connect all Q boxes by Ethernet to mesh units and turn off all Q WiFi.

What's a Sky Q hub?

I use powerlines for my mini-Q connection. Mostly reliable.

Provided all the Q boxes are connected by Ethernet then you can turn off their WiFi.

If they are not connected by Ethernet the the boxes WiFi needs to be on.

On Sky Broadband with a Sky Q router then the boxes and all other Q devices (including the router and any Q boosters) create a WiFi mesh which the boxes connect to.
