How do I pair a second remote on sky Q

Hello

new box issued today due to a fault. New remote issued too.

Prior to the new box/remote, I had two remote controllers that worked. Now only one will pair.

any clues on how to pair the second one so they both work please?

Search this forum. It's possible and documented but one will only work via IR, can't have 2 using bluetooth

You can have more than one remote to control the SKY Q box & TV but only one can be bluetoooth (so the additional one won't activate voice control or operate the volume buttons).

To set a second Sky Q remote to infrared mode you just press 7 & 9 together on the remote until the led flashes 4 times. This should then work the box by infrared which will need line of sight to the Q box.

Note the 7 & 9 completely resets the remote and when is done it won't control the TV as @Daniel0210 mentions

If you want both to control the TV it can be done but rather convoluted.

You first pair the one you want to use in infrared only mode (pressing & holding 7 & 9 if needed to reset) by pressing & holding 1 & 3 together & following the on screen instructions

Once paired to the box & TV you reset it to use Infrared by pressing & holding 4 & 6 together

Then you re-pair the one you want to use in bluetooth mode & for voice contro, as above but this time don't press the 4 & 6 after

Thank you, the 4&6 combo worked fine and I didn't need to re-pair the main remote. Both work now and control both TV & Sky.

Thank you sooo much. Hubby dropped his remote and we had a spare but I was struggling to get back to how we were with two remotes one on voice one not but both working the tv.

Got a new second Sky Q remote, but I could only get one to work and each time I set one up the other lost its connection, but 4 and 6 solution worked. Thank you.

Yeah it's 1 remote only on bluetooth.

My original remote is broken, but still works even though the touch pad is hanging off. New remote won't connect at all. Been through all the above. So still using broken one

hi @Catresidential

May I suggest you rety a full reset of your new remote
Press & Hold the 7 & 9 until the remote's light (red LED above the SKY logo button) flashes 4 times

Then press 1 & 3 together to go through to re-pair with the box and your TV - make sure it has line of sight of the box as until it is paired it uses Infrared

Hi @Catresidential Where did you get your new remote from, because there is no reason why it shouldn't work. Note the new remote must be able to "see" the Sky Q box. Direct line of sight.

The remote was sent by sky. We've gone through all the steps where sky said we needed a new remote but wouldn't give us one as we'd just been sent one

Yes! But I can't get a new one because I just got a new one, and it's impossible to actually speak to anyone to say this!

If you can't persuade SKY that your new remote is faulty then, probably your only option is to buy one from a variety of sources
