Sky q ..slow download

I have a sky q box and I have noticed lately that when downloading from catch up.or demand its very slow to start . Remains on 0% for a while then suddenly starts . My Internet is fine and it's a wired connection . I have done the usual re boot the box but still the same . Its only been like it recently . Any ideas ?

Do you have any other device you can plug into that ethernet connection to double check normal downloads are

high speed?

Yes I have done that too ans speeds.via the ethernet cable and also.over wifi are great no problems.at all .

Yes tried that a few times . Seen on another thread others are having the same problem. No solutions so far

Are they on ethernet? It's a common problem on wifi.

I am having a similar issue

I've checked my download internet speed & i've got 130mbs, but the sky box seems to take ages.

Has anyone spoken directly to sky yet? if not i will call later today

Mine is around 274 download speed but still slow . If you speak to sky let me know and I will too . The more people ring the more likely it will get resolved.

I use ethernet into a wifi node which I think means it gets away from some of the strange networking behaviour of the Q box and I get UHD movies ready to play in sub 10 seconds. 1Gb internet connection. Also that mesh node has an indirect hop to the router too so it's not what I would call a fast connection.

I have tested direct ethernet to the router and it was equally fast (but impractical without doing some house renovations) but I didn't get to see how that behaves after a day or week.

I have this problem but using Wireless connectivity as my router is too far from the sky q box for a wired connection. Using Virgin Internet M250 and getting high speeds with everything apart from downloading catch up shows on Sky Q.

the answer back was the same, the actual sky Q box itself cannot handle high speed downloads

not sure it I was being fobbed off or not.

It's weird how this happens esp as mine is ethernet cable and channel 5 esp

What's "high speed"? I get UHD movies downloading quick enough to start watching within 30 seconds (as mentioned before) but I doubt it can pull > 100Mb

I have 500 download speed

i can watch the movie pretty much instantly, but the complete film takes about 10 mins

inwas expecting it to download completely a lot quicker

Then yours is plenty fast enough. They won't have designed the service to run at super high speeds which are quicker than someone can watch playback because that costs more to meet peak demand (500Mb x 1million people downloading when a big title or the latest GoT is released for example would be a LOT of bandwidth needed)
