I unplug my Sky HD box to take with me and reconnect at holiday home. It works perfectly without an internet connection. Could I do the same with a Sky Q box

No, if for no other reason than it's against the T's and C's you agreed to. It can only be used at the account address.

If you do you will be breaking Skys terms and conditions.

Sky Q boxes can only be used at the Account address

Pretty sure that Sky's T's & C's are already being broken by taking a Sky+HD box on holiday (well, the card that's in it anyway)
